The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) is a government organization in India under the Ministry of Railways. It was established in 1942 to streamline recruitment for various posts in Indian Railways, ensuring efficiency and transparency. Initially known as Railway Service Commissions, it was renamed RRB in 1985.
RRB is responsible for recruiting non-gazetted employees across technical and non-technical categories in Group C and D posts. The board oversees recruitment for positions like Junior Engineers, Station Masters, Clerks, and Technicians. To ensure regional representation and convenience, RRB operates through 21 regional offices located in cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad.
Recruitments are conducted via competitive examinations, which are often followed by skill tests, interviews, and medical examinations depending on the role. The process includes Computer-Based Tests (CBTs) to ensure fair evaluation.
RRB adheres to strict guidelines to maintain merit-based selection while offering reservations as per government policies. With millions of candidates appearing for exams annually, it plays a vital role in addressing employment needs in one of the largest rail networks globally.
The RRB’s mission is to provide efficient recruitment services, supporting the Indian Railways’ operations and contributing to the nation’s development.
